CLEAN URBAN ENERGY SELECTED FOR DOE INNOVATION SUMMIT
CHICAGO, IL; January 25, 2012 – Clean Urban Energy (CUE), an energy storage and smart grid technology provider, today announced that they have been selected to participate in the Technology Innovation Showcase at ARPA-E’s 2012 Energy Innovation Summit to be held February 27-29 in Washington, DC. The Showcase will feature “companies and research organizations poised to transform our energy economy.”
CUE was chosen to present its energy optimization SaaS platform—which allows large commercial office buildings to connect their HVAC operations to the electric grid to automatically take advantage of electric market opportunities while simultaneously providing storage for the electric grid.
Now in its third year, the Energy Innovation Summit was founded to bring together key players in the energy industry—from government and corporate leaders to researchers, entrepreneurs, and investors—to share ideas for advancing and deploying new energy technologies. Speakers at this year’s Summit include Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates, Secretary of Energy Steven Chu, Massachusetts Institute of Technology President Susan Hockfield, Xerox Chairman Ursula Burns, and President Bill Clinton.
This year’s showcase will include roughly 150 exhibits in areas such as building efficiency, grid-scale storage, advanced carbon capture, electric vehicle batteries, power electronics, network integration for the grid, photovoltaics, advanced thermal storage, and rare earth alternatives.
“It is a tremendous honor that ARPA-E has named us among the foremost transformational energy technologies,” said CUE President and COO Phil Bomrad. “We are excited to be a part of this important event.”
